Ron Hanson Medallists Named

first_imgAustralia’s 12 teams and referee contingent were recognised last night, receiving their Australian jerseys in the lead up to the 2013 Super Trans Tasman Series in Auckland in February. Australian Men’s 40’s player, John Samin, Men’s Open player, Anthony Ziade, Women’s Open player, Peta Rogerson and Men’s 20’s player, Sam Brisby were named the Ron Hanson Medallists, the flag bearers for the event. Referee David Baggio was also recognised, named the Australian referee’s Flag Bearer for the event. Here’s what the Flag Bearers had to say when receiving the honour on Saturday night:John Samin35 World Cup caps, three Test caps, 26 European Championships caps, 11 All Nations caps“This means so very much to me, receiving this award from a very special friend and a legend of the game. We need to treasure our legends because they are so very, very special. Thank you to all involved, it’s a very, very great honour.”Sam Brisby Nine World Cup caps, two Test caps (six Youth Test caps)“Firstly I’d just like to thank you for this medal and honour to be the Flag Bearer, it’s a great honour. I’d also like to thank Wayne and all the team for the effort they’ve put in for this tour, having so many teams.
