Holman, Sr., 83, formerly of Oxford and Arkansas City died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Riverview Manor of Oxford.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Kansas with Pastor Glendon Epp presiding.  Military Committal Services will follow at Oxford Cemetery. The visitation service will be held  from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evening, August 11th at Oxford Funeral Service.Born July 1, 1931, in Oxford, Kansas, Wes was the eldest of two children born to Raymond C. Holman and Helen G. (Hoover). He grew up in the Slate Valley area of Kansas until he joined the Air Force in 1948. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan after the Korean War. Returning to the states, Wes met Ruth Louise Holloway and they wed in 1956 in Kansas. Wes worked at the Boeing Plant in Wichita for several years, just as his father and father-in-law had.In 1960, Wes moved his family to Colorado to join his in-laws, Gilbert and Irene Holloway. Louise and Wes made their home in Woody Creek, where they raised their family of seven children. Wes worked for the Aspen Valley School District from 1971-1990. He enjoyed many years of service to the school district as the middle school custodian and bus driver driving countless students to football and basketball games.  He was also a member of the Aspen Booster Club.In May of 2012, Wes married Sharon Balogh in Oxford, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Sharon Holman, sons Wesley (DeDe) Holman, Lubbock, TX, Carl Holman, Aspen, CO, Jimmie (Dianna) Holman, Galesburg, MI, Brian (Kim) Holman, Grand Junction, CO, Robert (Amy) Holman, Kalamazoo, MI, Joseph (Michelle) Holman, Aspen, CO, and daughter Holly (Kris) Adler of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren include Jessica, Rachael, Hannah, Caitlin, Eric, Jason, Brandon, Cambrie, Tyler Holman and Megan Williams.last_img
