first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A puppy dead of several pellet wounds was found dumped in a plastic bag in Mattituck over the weekend, according to the Suffolk County SPCA, which is investigating the case.Someone reported making the disturbing discovery on a trail at Laurel Lake Preserve and upon arrival, investigators found that the puppy still had pellets lodged in its body, authorities said.“This is a blatant act of animal cruelty,” Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said. “We will do everything we can to see that those responsible are apprehended.”The agecny is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing and dumping the puppy.Anyone with information can contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
